La Bassine Birth Pools

I have been attending water births my entire career. I've assisted births in every shape and size vessel imaginable, and by far my favorites are the oval inflatable birth pools due to their sturdiness, roomy but manageable size, and ease of use. For this reason I have chosen La Bassine pools to have available for my clients at no charge.

Size: The pool dimensions measure 56"long x 53" wide x 25" deep and holds 100 gallons of water. The pool is big enough for the mother to completely submerge her belly, and allows room for a partner or support person to enter the pool with her.

Construction: The pool is made from extra thick PVC. When properly inflated, the pool has strong, supportive walls. The air used to inflate the pool provides insulation which keeps the water warm for a longer period of time. The inflatable bottom offers greater comfort for the mother when sitting in the pool.

Shape: The oval shape reduces the amount of water needed to fill the pool, causing it to weight less. It also has less surface area than a round pool, resulting in less heat loss than a round pool. The oval construction also allows your birth attendant to reach you and your baby easily.

Set up and cleaning: Inflatable pools are easier to set up and provide better insulation than rigid pools. Using an electric air pump, the pool can be easily inflated in approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
